Catholic Charities Holiday Outreach Program

Through the Catholic Charities Holiday Outreach Program, DuPage County residents can receive holiday gifts and gift certificates during the holiday season. Every family struggling financially is asked to compile a wish list of products they would like to receive for Christmas. Donor families then provide the families in need with financial assistance or gift certificates to purchase the items on the families’ lists.

This program pairs churches with low-income families who have previously compiled a wish list based on their needs. The families have also provided a want list to the parish.

This organization also requests monetary or gift card gifts from individual contributors, which will be given to low-income families so that they can buy food during the Christmas holiday. Donations of new winter clothing, hats, gloves, and scarves for children and adults will also be provided to low-income families and homeless people. They seek our assistance throughout the winter months. These items should be unwrapped and donated in their original packaging.

Many of the children in DuPage County look forward to opening presents on Christmas morning. If a child in a family is stricken with poverty, they may not be able to celebrate their holiday.

Catholic Charities Holiday Outreach Program helps families in need and provides them with toys, clothing, and food to spend the holiday season together. Donations made throughout the year will continue to help families until Christmas day.

If you are interested in donating new toys and other items, please have them delivered to Catholic Charities between November 1st and December 20th. Please ensure that the items are not used and unwrapped so the gifts can be distributed to those in need.

The main goal is to purchase new toys for children in the DuPage County area that may have nothing for Christmas. Listed below are their most recent collections: Toys For Tots runs a huge Christmas toy drive to provide families with less than enough money to make ends meet with presents. This year they want at least 150,000 toys to be collected by December 9th, which will be distributed throughout Illinois and Indiana on December 21st.

Bloomingdale Township Sharing Tree

Between November and the middle of December, Bloomingdale Township will have a Christmas tree in each township building that will be decked with paper Christmas bells. Children from low-income households are given these paper bells to colour and decorate.

Those bells are then collected by individuals and organizations eager to lend a helping hand. These groups and individuals purchase the items listed on the bell, wrap them up, and place them beneath the tree in the office. The families can exchange the tags underneath the tree for a gift.

Residents in Bloomingdale Township who need assistance can receive it through Bloomingdale Township Food Pantry, Inc., which is run in partnership with Bloomingdale Township, thanks to donations from private individuals, corporations, and other not-for-profit organizations.

The Bloomingdale Township Food Pantry, Inc. is a separate not-for-profit company qualified as an exemption from taxes under IRS code 501(c)(3). It is supported by local churches, schools, individuals, and civic and community organizations. Through these collaborative projects with the Bloomingdale Township General Assistance Department, the Pantry assists individuals who are in need.

The General Assistance Office is home to a food pantry managed by Bloomingdale Township Food Pantry, Inc., responsible for fundraising efforts and the promotion of food drives. The Pantry has space for perishable and non-perishable goods, making it versatile storage space. Volunteers assist the paid personnel in stocking the shelves and rotating the food in the Pantry.

The food pantry is a valuable resource for the Township since it gives the General Assistance Office access to a source of donated food and helps to ensure that those in need are not forced to go hungry. Your contribution, which is eligible for a tax deduction thanks to the Pantry’s status as a tax-exempt organization under IRS code 501(c)(3), will be put toward the purchase of supplemental food and personal care items at a price that is significantly lower than market value thanks to the Pantry’s partnerships with local businesses.

In addition, thanks to the generosity of Meijer’s Give Drive, customers have the opportunity to purchase gift cards that are then donated to the food pantry to purchase food. This enables us to assist in maintaining stocked shelves for Township residents who need assistance. Please visit their local Meijer store if you want additional information on how you might be of assistance.

The number to call for additional information is 630-529-9993. It is open to anyone interested in sponsoring a food drive, making a tax-deductible donation, or who has time throughout the day to help at the Pantry.

Bloomingdale Township Sharing Tree’s main aim is to help children from low-income families get Christmas presents. They collect new items placed under a tree in their office. Individuals will donate money and purchase the items on the item tags. The Department of Human Services will provide you with a case worker who may be able to offer cash assistance if you need it.
